The recess, on the floor, would be a perfect place. Given the items you find there we are building some kind of a ramp.

The empty soup can is a perfect base for the ramp. You just need to make it stand still.

Fill the recess with something sticky. ( Get some of the tar into the recess. ) ( Use a mug to get the tar from the tar puddle. )
