Once Jamila has moved to tunnel 3, go back to the end of tunnel 2 and look at the same pile of sand where you found the last piece of the cat amulet to find the red scarab. Take it back to the scarab puzzle, and the fun begins.
Hint 3
The point of this little puzzle is to get the scarabs that move (the ones that show an arrow when you hover the mouse over them) to cover the scarabs painted on the board -- red to red, green to green, and so on. Easy enough, right? Wrong.
Hint 4
The trick is that the pieces always slide as far as they can; you can't stop them until they hit the wall. Nasty. Read to the end of this hint for step-by-step directions.
Hint 5
Puzzles like this take some planning, or at least a lot of messing around to see what works. If you find yourself messed up, click on the button at the upper right with the swirly arrow to reset the puzzle.
Hint 6
The scarabs will stop for three things: the end walls, the little white walls in the middle of the board, and other scarabs. You can't move the walls, but you can move the scarabs.
Hint 7
You can, for example, pile two other scarabs against a wall to enable a third scarab to hit a spot three spaces from that wall, then move the first two scarabs. Handy, that.
Hint 8
One thing that's a little confusing is that the movable white scarab is white on a black background, and the movable black scarab is black on a white background. If you think you've got the scarabs placed right and nothing happens, make sure you've got the black and white scarabs in their proper places.
Hint 9
Hopelessly stuck or just frustrated? Here's how I solved this puzzle.
