-- you overheard an argument between two people that was rather nasty. We better find out about it.
Hint 3
Talk to Lily about it, and she isn't terribly communicative; instead, she asks you to help out by arranging some amulets for her in the antiquities tent.
Hint 4
This is the box at the far end of the right table, and it ought to be easy; unfortunately, the labels on the box show the concepts the amulets represent (rebirth, wisdom, and so on) rather than what animals they are. Read to the end of this hint for a picture showing which amulet goes in each box.
Hint 5
The "Relic" book is a very useful reference here; read it carefully, and it will tell you where almost all the amulets go. (If you're not sure what each animal is, read the piece of paper to the left of the amulet box that lists each amulet.)
Hint 6
For example, on the first page of the book, it tells you that a golden fly stood for military achievements. (Is that bizarre or what?) So the fly goes in one of the boxes labeled "Military Valour."
Hint 7
The shape of the amulet is more important than the material it's made out of. The book refers to an amethyst monkey, and the one you have is carnelian, but it still goes in the "love" box.
Hint 8
For the "food offerings" box, you'll want the two amulets referred to in the page next to the box as trussed.
Hint 9
But when you've placed all the amulets referred to in the book, there are still five empty slots. You need another reference now --
Hint 10
-- and it's the "Pantheon" page Dylan gave you. Read through it for the animals and symbols you have left, and for the concepts you have left to fill.
Hint 11
For example, there are two goddesses who have lion's heads, Tefnut and Sekhmet. Since Tefnut governs moisture and Sekhmet governs war, let's put the lion amulet in the "Military Valour" box.
Hint 12
The one item I never found listed anywhere is the ankh; it goes in one of the "Health" boxes.
Hint 13
If you get totally messed up and want to start over again, back away from the box to reset the puzzle.
Hint 14
Still frustrated? Here's where all the amulets go:
