After you agree to help Clara, Nancy goes up to the door to Charlotte's bedroom, where you hear Clara yelling at Charlotte. Unfortunately, while you're trying to convince her to leave, the fire collapses the door behind you.
Clara says you're doomed, but let's not be too hasty. How did you get out of this room the last time?
Turn to go out through the painting ... and blast, it's shut. Yeah but we can just use the clocks again, right? (The key is on the mantelpiece at the right. Click on it to start the process.)
Well, yes and no. Getting all the clocks to reach 12:00 at the same time will once again open the painting -- but their speeds have all been changed, so the settings you used last time won't work this time. Read to the end of this hint to see the settings that work this time.
You have lots of time, so you can use the same general tactic you used last time. That is, set all the clocks to 12:00, then flip the switch and see what happens.
This time, the first clock is the slowest. So set the clocks to 12, click the switch to start the clocks, then turn them off when the first clock reaches 1.
It's hard to click at exactly the right moment, but if you manage it, the clocks will read --
-- 1, 2:30, 1:30, 2, and 4. That tells you that for every hour clock 1 moves, clock 2 moves 2 1/2 hours, clock 3 moves 1 1/2 hours, and so on.
So in order to get them all to hit 12 at the same time, you need to set them that amount of time before 12. So the settings you need are --
-- 11, 9:30, 10:30, 10, and 8.
