The curtains, in room II, are closed. You would need something to keep them open.
When you use the curtains it drops a rope. You should halve it.

I have two ropes

Good, you can use one rope to keep the left curtain open.

How about the right curtain?

It is missing the tie-back, alltogether. This is a good moment to help the tentacle guy.

What should I use as a tie-back?

Take one of the hooks in room III. Use it as a tie-back on the hole in the wall.
