At first, all you need to do is wait for the timer on the wall to run out.

Why not use this time to get acquainted with the controls?

What now?

Walk through the newly opened portal, then continue walking to reach the next room.
Did you know that you can press 'E' to pick up objects? Click the quickhint button below for an extra nudge in the right direction.

You can pick up most objects in the game. That includes the big metal cube.
Drop the cube onto the big red button to open the door. You'll then need to step inside the elevator to go down to the next chamber.
