Supposedly "the perfect time to have her tested", but this innocuous line references a day with a dark history.
Bring Your Daughter to Work Day is believed to be the day that the AI you've been listening to, 'GLaDOS', was activated for the first time. Naturally, it went rogue and flooded the facility with a deadly neurotoxin, only stopping the rampage when a 'morality core' was fitted.
There were very few survivors, but you can follow one scientist's journey through the aftermath in the Lab Rat comic.
