You can complete this chamber in about ten seconds without even seeing an energy pellet.

How do I do that?

Note the ground near the elevator is portal-friendly; if you gathered enough momentum, you could shoot out of it and land on the platform nearby.
Shoot a portal on the ground near the platform, and another into the pit where the stairs appear. Note that if you already grabbed the cube, the stairs won't disappear, and you may need to load a save.


Otherwise, move back a few steps to make the stairs disappear, then jump down through the portal and move towards the platform while in the air to land on it.
