When you get the tube switcher door open you have a change to enter the tube switcher.

But the repair demon is blocking my way

You have to wait him to leave (just exit the room). But he slams the door shut!

There's a deadbolt in the door. Use it to prevent the door from shutting. You can now enter the switcher room at will, without the repairman.
